A resident permit can be obtained for $43. The only problem with Ohio is that is a very heavily hunted state.

#3 Wisconsin

Aside from cheese, Wisconsin is known for its population of more than 1.2 million deer. With 5.17 huntable acres per hunter and so many deer to shoot at, Wisconsin is a great place to practice your shot and pick up some venison with your cheese to take home to the family. The cost of a resident license is only $24, and the cost of a non-resident permit is $160. There are also roughly 7.34 acres of land per hunter, making Wisconsin one of the best places to hunt Whitetail in the country.

#2 Minnesota

With more than 14 acres per hunter, massive deer, and affordable over the counter tags, Minnesota is home to some of the best hunting in the United States, especially along the Canadian border. Resident licenses are $30, and non-resident permits are $165. Just remember to bring your hat and gloves!

#1 Missouri

Missouri is the best place to hunt because it is the most overlooked state for Whitetail hunting in the U.S. The population of Whitetail is booming, and with 7 out of the top 50 typical and non-typical deer, Missouri should be renamed as the "Show Me Your Deer State." Resident licenses are only $19, but non-resident permits are $225. With 5.13 acres per hunter and some of the best Whitetail hunting grounds in America, Missouri is second-to-none.
